Then came modern man, about 20,000 years ago. From that point on, he destroyed his enemies without compassion, learned to enslave other men, and greedily took from the world. He made his life easier, and evolution has degraded him for it.

Ray Crawford's secret has been discovered inside the space probe aboard the transporter, a digital backup of the recording he'd destroyed in hopes of saving the Green Planet from human interference. Now NASA has built a SuperMIGGS capable of transporting a fleet of Aerospace Shuttles into the 13th Power. Armed with PLRs (Proton Laser Resonators - weapons of unimaginable power), General Brigham is about to embark on a mission to conquer the aliens and steal their technology. The ensuing conflict will alter mankind's place in the universe....forever.

MEET THE BAD GUY:

When NASA administrators realize the aliens of the Green Planet have the ability to teleport their space vehicles into orbit, they call on General Brigham, a national hero who had caused the downfall of a corrupt President and is now in charge at the Department of Defense. A mission into the 13th Power would not only demonstrate Brigham's new-found power to the world, but to the entire galaxy as well.

MEET THE GOOD GUY:

Mathematician Janis Mackey is in for a shock when x-Solartech Labs mechanical engineer Stan Burton invites him and his laser-physicist wife, Tracy, to Kennedy Space Center. There, inside a hanger, NASA unveils its new SuperMIGGS and a fleet of sixteen Aerospace Shuttles. With the help of Stan's engineering savvy, NASA has built the equipment required to return to the 13th Power. However, they need Janis's expertise to program the supercomputers with the correct formulas. To make him cooperate, Brigham arrests Tracy and charges her with treason for her part in the defunct President's STAR WARS conspiracy. She'll certainly be put to death if Janis fails.

MEET THE ALIENS:

Luthes Rez is an officer in the Beltzan Fleet, a respected Trantenant firmly planted in his father's footsteps. He's young and ambitious, his sites set on the coveted Tran Bars, Admiralship of Questnar, the grandest Orbital Patrol Ship in the League of Beltzee (The Green Planet). He's a history buff, an expert on the Tarreeda, a barbaric race of warmongers who were banished to the ice planet a thousand generations ago. Since then, the Beltzans have prospered and lived in peace. That is, until now. Alien spaceships appear above Beltzee's ring-plane. They destroy the out-base Latearian with some kind of death beam. Thousands of lives are lost as the aliens advance. Gripped with dread for his homeworld, and for his wife and his daughter, Luthes boards Questnar where he will soon learn the terrible price of freedom.

Though love has never come easy for Lisa, she believes she's finally found her man. He's a quiet soul, peaceful, and a hero in his own right. But he isn't free, and her father will never approve.
