Rocky Mountain Book Festival, DU Ritchie Center, April 13, 2002

Here I'm waiting to begin me half hour presentation of The 13th Power. Attendance was light and the room was mostly empty. But I had fun.

After my presentation, I set up shop at a signing table on the main arena floor. Leslie Breene and Lee Guttierez (Tiedra Lee) talk with me about the thin crowd while Bill explains The 13th Power to a happy young lady. The weather that day must've been 80 and probably gave a lot of people spring fever.

Volunteers for the book store gave The 13th Power a respectable showing on one of the center tables. I had five books to sell for them, an amiable task considering the light attendance. One attendee bought my book because she loved the cover art. So do I.

This mother and son team were shopping for a book suitable for his age. I told her there were no words in my book that he hasn't heard in school. They went home with The 13th Power.

My good friend, author Karen Duvall (Project Resurrection), stops by to chat. Notice, there are no other authors signing their books at the tables next to me. But I stuck it out and managed to sell all five books.

I had the honor of speaking on a panel, To Live or Die in the Arena. Our topic was Self Promotion. Kevin Anderson (standing) moderated the panel. He's published over 80 books including episodes of Star Wars, Star Trek, and Dune. His wife (sitting next to me) writes for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. I was in the company of some high-powered authors, an experience I'll always remember. My thanks go to The Colorado Center for the Book and Ed Bryant for inviting me.
